Somewhere in the midst of the whole Orchard Central/Somerset 313/Orchard Gateway maze, is the Library@Orchard.
You feel it the moment you step in. Warm hues and lighting. Loft-like spaces. Spacious layouts. Open workspaces. Multiple clusters. Private reading nooks. Wide selection of genres with a focus on arts and design. THAT endless magazine wall with about any magazine you might want. THAT staircase. The view from the staircase. Those spiral bookshelves. Rotating photography exhibits.
I personally find libraries a great "third place" to be at and to work from, apart from cafes, and this one in particular just has a very inviting space and experience for the users. I somewhat feel our libraries are a little under-leveraged, and hope that this interests people a little more to check the space out, plus they carry CEREAL and KINFOLK magazines :) Definitely a nice little spot to head to next time you need a creative break from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road.
And if you like this, you might like the Library@Esplanade too, which has a focus on the performing arts.
