Work-Friendly Cafes in Siglap and Katong
There are no shortages of cafe spots in Katong and Siglap, and if you are looking for a few that are specifically work-friendly during off-peak hours (free wi-fi, ample space, not too crowded), here are a few to check out:
Baker & Cook (Siglap)
Located along the sleepy Swan Lake Avenue, this outlet has a number of outdoor seats which makes a good quiet spot with minimal distractions. Lovely staff and service. To-die for sourdough bread, chocolate croissant, and eggs benedict with bacon.
Dutch Colony Cafe (Frankel Avenue)
The two outdoor seats are nice but gets a bit hot during the late afternoon. They play nice music, have great coffee and sandwiches.
Bread & Hearth Cafe (Katong V)
A little hidden spot in a mall (of all places). This cafe is situated on the 2nd floor of Katong V. Except weekends, it's generally quite a conducive place to work from. Look for the spot with the L-shape island near the coffee machine at the back which provides a bit more table space. And don't forget to check out Tomi Sushi if you are there around lunchtime/dinnertime - it's one of the best in the East.
Penny University (Katong)
This cafe is full of people working on their laptops. Great coffee and chai latte. Directly opposite a fantastic deli (Oh Deli).
Craftmen's Specialty Coffee
While it gets a little noisy and crowded in here sometimes, I found myself being the most productive at times at this cafe while seated at the bar counter seats just by the windows. The chai here is on the pricier side compared to the rest ($6 regular, $8 large).
Two other spots worth mentioning are Stamping Ground Coffee and Marine Parade Public Library. Stamping Ground Coffee does not offer wifi and have fairly limited seating, but it's a lovely place to visit nonetheless and you can always use your personal hotspot if required. Marine Parade Public Library on the other hand is not a cafe, but is the perfect spot when you need zero distractions, and there's plenty of seats/tables in the light-filled library.
Are there any others I should feature? Feel free to let me know in the comments below.
